Portage Transport is currently seeking a Trailer Mechanic to join its dynamic growing team. In conjunction with the Trailer Shop Lead, the successful candidate will work to complete diagnostics, service and repairs to PT trailer and reefer equipment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrate strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Experience as a trailer mechanic is an asset. Willing to train.
- Strong desire to learn and grow in the trucking industry
- Hold a valid drivers license (class 1 an asset)
- Physical ability to lift, bend and reach
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
- Collaborative team player
- Basic computer skills are considered an asset
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently perform quality diagnostics on trailers and reefer equipment
- Repair equipment in an efficient, safe cost-effective timely manner
- Documentation of repairs performed on work order
- Communicate repair findings and maintenance timeline with operator, service and dispatch teams
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Perform alternate duties as assigned
Hours:
- Permanent Full Time Position
- Two-week scheduled rotation
